Calling all CHEFS!
You may be wondering, what does being a chef have to do with gleaning vegetables? Here at The Gleaning Project, the acronym CHEFS stands for Cooking Health Educator Friends of SCCAP, and they are invaluable to helping us work towards our mission of improving nutrition in our community.
Do you…
Want to be part of a community solution working to improve nutrition?
Like sharing healthy, tasty, simple recipes with friends and family?
Enjoy trying new fruits and vegetables?
Preserve food for the winter months?
Have two free hours during the week from 9-4PM?
If you answered yes to one or more of these questions you would make a great addition to our CHEFS volunteer team. Read on to learn more about one of our most needed volunteer roles, produce stand sampling!
Produce Stand Sampling
We provide:
Seasonal local produce
Recipe cards for a recipe of your choosing
Serving spoons, plates, toothpicks, etc.
You:
Work with us to choose a healthy recipe for a fruit or vegetable we have in abundance
Pick a date and time that you will conduct the sampling
Make the dish and share your experience with eaters who come through the produce stand
Other Opportunities
If this opportunity doesn’t work with your schedule or interests, but you are excited about sharing your nutrition knowledge, don’t worry! We can work with you to find an opportunity that matches your skills - whether that is a cooking class, preservation class, or even just sending us great resources for healthy, quick recipes.
Sharing recipes has never been so easy! Join Everybody Eats: SCCAP’s Community Kitchen Club today to see what other people are cooking, ask questions, participate in contests, and more.
Stay Tuned
