Awesome August!
Hello Again Gleaners! We’re back with another month in the heat of summer to celebrate food, friends and delicious recipes!
August is Catfish Month
Catfish are fish that are related to carp and minnows and typically have feline-looking whiskers. They can be found in almost all waterways in Pennsylvania so there are a million opportunities if you’re a fisherman to catch one but what do you do with it after? This month is a time to celebrate these fish as well as the many ways you can enjoy them in your diet!
Goat Cheese Month
Goat Cheese—dairy cheese’s cousin and partner in crime. It’s been described as tasting sometimes tangy, sometimes mild and sometimes even sweet depending on the goat’s diet. This cheese can be use in so many ways and it makes a great substitute (or a new favorite) cheese for your next party! Check out a variety of ways to use it and pair it below!
Raspberry Cream Pie Month
Raspberries are one of the delicious berries that are coming into season and that means you get to find new and creative ways to eat them. This month the holiday gives us an idea of using them in a cream pie so we’ll give recipes for that but make sure you try raspberries in all kinds of ways you can think of!
Sandwich Month
Sandwich month is a great time to remember all those lunches we packed (and probably still do) to take with us everywhere. Whether it’s in school, college, work or as a picnic lunch on a long day, the sandwich is on of the simplest and yet most interesting foods to celebrate! There has been debate over what is and what isn’t a sandwich (hotdogs are apparently?). Below we’re sharing some of the infinite ways you can enjoy sandwiches in your day to day this month and celebrate this food holiday. And hey- Pb&J is still a great choice!
